The families were quickly housed in tents distributed by the state or made locally with the means at hand. We then gave mattresses, blankets and food that were transported by truck from all the cities in Morocco.
With Rachid Mandili, president of the Tizi n’Oucheg development association, we immediately thought about what to do next…<\/p>\n

What needs? What consequences? How to anticipate?<\/p>\n

The answer we were given is that the emergency for the inhabitants is not in the reconstruction but in the education of their children.<\/p>\n

In the Atlas area where we are working (commune of Setti Fatma) there are 62 villages, 4 are destroyed mainly due to landslides. In Timichi, everyone is still in tents, in Bouyzgarn, each family whose house is habitable, welcomes 4 other families (one per room), in Aguard, many inhabitants have found refuge with family members in the city or in the valley. Most of the affected families received a monthly allowance for current expenses and are waiting for state subsidies to renovate their homes or rebuild them elsewhere.<\/p>\n

With Rachid Mandili, the priority was to build a college for young people from the Timenkar plateau who had not been able to start school due to a lack of an establishment. In October, after obtaining approval from the authorities, we began looking for funding, obtaining authorizations, setting up work teams (craftsmen, architects, design offices) and looking for partners. A tedious job full of unknowns due to the exceptional situation in which we operate.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to build an educational complex using local materials that will meet the needs of the inhabitants of the Timenkar plateau with a view to sustainable development of their village communities. After a long obstacle course, we finally obtained the building permit and funding for this magnificent project. The students have started classes in a temporary establishment for this year and will be able to join the Timenkar middle school next year.<\/p>\n

In parallel with this middle school project, we are carrying out several actions in connection with local communities:<\/p>\n

The Tadamoun project for women and children: young committed citizens from Marrakech and Tangier lead creative workshops (embroidery, drawing, writing, sports) in the villages to restore a positive dynamic and erase trauma.
The Sofa project: the women from the villages of our \u201c99 Femmes Maroc\u201d network have woven, sewn, knitted blankets and warm clothing for the victims of the earthquake. They are proud to be able to participate in this chain of solidarity.
The Tigmi project: We support and organize stone\/earth construction sites for families who do not receive any subsidies and have not found a housing solution.
The Ifalan project: Having had to cancel the Ifalan festival in Tata in October 2023, we plan to organize other festivals in several places from June 2024.<\/p>\n

Bilan 6 mois plus tard <\/strong>l<\/strong><\/strong> Review six months later<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il y a exactement 6 mois nous apportions les premiers secours aux victimes du s\u00e9isme qui venait de toucher le Maroc faisant 3000 morts, 30000 familles sans abris et de nombreux villages d\u00e9truits.<\/strong>

<\/strong>Rapidement les familles ont \u00e9t\u00e9 log\u00e9es dans des tentes distribu\u00e9es par l\u2019\u00e9tat ou fabriqu\u00e9es localement avec les moyens du bord. Nous avons ensuite donn\u00e9 des matelas, des couvertures et des denr\u00e9es alimentaires qui \u00e9taient achemin\u00e9s par camion depuis toutes les villes du Maroc.

Quels besoins ? Quelles cons\u00e9quences ? Comment anticiper ?
La r\u00e9ponse qui nous a \u00e9t\u00e9 donn\u00e9e est que l\u2019urgence pour les habitants n\u2019est pas dans la reconstruction mais dans l\u2019\u00e9ducation de leurs enfants.

Dans la zone de l\u2019Atlas sur laquelle nous intervenons (commune de Setti Fatma) il y a 62 villages, 4 sont d\u00e9truits principalement du fait des \u00e9boulements. A Timichi, tout le monde est encore sous la tente, \u00e0 Bouyzgarn, chaque famille dont la maison est habitable, accueille 4 autres familles (une par pi\u00e8ce), \u00e0 Aguard, beaucoup d\u2019habitants ont trouv\u00e9 refuge chez des membres de la famille \u00e0 la ville ou dans la vall\u00e9e. La plupart des familles touch\u00e9es ont re\u00e7u une indemnit\u00e9 mensuelle pour les d\u00e9penses courantes et attendent les subventions de l\u2019\u00e9tat pour r\u00e9nover leur maison ou la reconstruire ailleurs.

Avec Rachid Mandili, la priorit\u00e9 s\u2019est ax\u00e9e sur la construction d\u2019un coll\u00e8ge pour les jeunes du plateau de Timenkar qui n\u2019avaient pas pu faire leur rentr\u00e9e, faute d\u2019\u00e9tablissement. En octobre, apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu l\u2019aval des autorit\u00e9s, nous lan\u00e7ons les recherches de financement, les autorisations, la constitution des \u00e9quipes de travail (artisans, architectes, bureaux d\u2019\u00e9tudes) la recherche de partenaires. Un travail fastidieux et rempli d\u2019inconnu du fait de la situation exceptionnelle dans laquelle nous \u00e9voluons.

Notre objectif est de construire en mat\u00e9riaux locaux un complexe p\u00e9dagogique qui r\u00e9pondra aux besoins des habitants du plateau de Timenkar dans la perspective d\u2019un d\u00e9veloppement durable de leurs communaut\u00e9s villageoises. Apr\u00e8s un long parcours du combattant nous obtenons enfin le permis de construire et le financement de ce magnifique projet. Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves ont d\u00e9marr\u00e9 les cours dans un \u00e9tablissement temporaire pour cette ann\u00e9e et pourront int\u00e9grer le coll\u00e8ge de Timenkar \u00e0 la rentr\u00e9e prochaine.

Parall\u00e8lement \u00e0 ce projet de coll\u00e8ge, nous menons plusieurs actions en lien avec les communaut\u00e9s locales :<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Le projet Tadamoun pour les femmes et les enfants<\/strong> : des jeunes citoyens engag\u00e9s de Marrakech et Tanger animent dans les villages des ateliers cr\u00e9atifs (broderie, dessin, \u00e9criture, sport) pour redonner une dynamique positive et effacer les traumatismes.

  • Le projet Sofa<\/strong> : les femmes des villages de notre r\u00e9seau \u00ab 99 Femmes Maroc \u00bb ont tiss\u00e9, cousu, tricot\u00e9 des couvertures et v\u00eatements chauds pour les victimes du s\u00e9isme. Elles sont fi\u00e8res de pouvoir participer \u00e0 cette chaine de solidarit\u00e9.

  • Le projet Tigmi<\/strong> : Nous soutenons et organisons des chantiers de construction en pierre\/terre pour des familles qui ne re\u00e7oivent aucune subvention et n\u2019ont pas trouv\u00e9 de solution de logement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n

  • Le projet Ifalan<\/strong> : Ayant d\u00fb annuler le festival Ifalan de Tata en Octobre 2023, nous pr\u00e9voyons d\u2019organiser d\u2019autres festivals dans plusieurs lieux \u00e0 partir du mois de Juin 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Plus que jamais nous restons sur le terrain, \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9coute des habitants en gardant une vision \u00e0 long terme pour un mod\u00e8le de d\u00e9veloppement durable autant pour les communaut\u00e9s que pour l\u2019environnement exceptionnel dans lequel elles vivent aujourd\u2019hui.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Exactly 6 months ago we provided first aid to victims of the earthquake which had just hit Morocco, leaving 3,000 dead, 30,000 families left homeless and many villages destroyed.<\/strong><\/em>

    Families were quickly housed in tents distributed by the state or made locally with available means. We then donated mattresses, blankets and foodstuffs which were transported by truck from all the cities in Morocco.
    With Rachid Mandili, president of the Tizi n\u2019Oucheg development association, we immediately thought about what came next\u2026
    What needs? What consequences? How to anticipate?
    The answer we were given is that the emergency for residents is not in reconstruction but in the education of their children.<\/em>

    In the Atlas zone in which we operate (commune of Setti Fatma) there are 62 villages, 4 are destroyed mainly due to landslides. In Timichi, everyone is still in tents, in Bouyzgarn, each family whose house is habitable accommodates 4 other families (one per room), in Aguard, many residents have found refuge with family members in the city or in the valley. Most affected families have received monthly compensation for living expenses and are waiting for state subsidies to renovate their homes or rebuild elsewhere.<\/em>

    With Rachid Mandili, the priority focused on the construction of a college for young people from the Timenkar plateau who had not been able to return to school due to lack of an establishment. In October, after having obtained approval from the authorities, we launched the search for financing, authorizations, the constitution of work teams (craftsmen, architects, design offices) and the search for partners. A tedious job full of unknowns due to the exceptional situation in which we operate.<\/em>

    Our objective is to build an educational complex using local materials that will meet the needs of the inhabitants of the Timenkar plateau with a view to sustainable development of their village communities. After a long obstacle course, we finally obtained the building permit and financing for this magnificent project. The students have started classes in a temporary establishment for this year and will be able to join Timenkar college at the start of the next school year.<\/em>

    Alongside this college project, we are carrying out several actions in conjunction with local communities:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • The Tadamoun project for women and children<\/strong>: young committed citizens from Marrakech and Tangier lead creative workshops in the villages (embroidery, drawing, writing, sport) to restore a positive dynamic and erase trauma.<\/em>
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The Sofa project<\/strong>: women from the villages of our \u201c99 Femmes Maroc\u201d network weaved, sewed and knitted blankets and warm clothing for victims of the earthquake. They are proud to be able to participate in this chain of solidarity.<\/em>
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The Tigmi project:<\/strong> We support and organize stone\/earth construction sites for families who do not receive any subsidies and have not found a housing solution.<\/em>
      <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • The Ifalan project:<\/em><\/strong> Having had to cancel the Tata Ifalan festival in October 2023, we plan to organize other festivals in several locations from June 2024.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
